Miss Clara is two weeks old!
Her umbilical cord stump fell off this week at 11 days old. After the cord fell off Clara has had blood oozing a little bit from her belly button staining her clothes. At her 2 week appointment the doctor told us she had a small granuloma on her belly button, so he put silver nitrate on it and told us the bleeding should stop in a couple of days. I'm very excited about this because it makes me sad to see her bleeding, and it will be nice not to have to scrub the blood out of all of her clothes anymore.
Clara made it back up to her birth wight by her appointment which eased her mother's worries a little bit. Two week stats: 8 pounds, 9 ounces, 21 inches long, head circumference 36.6 cm.
Clara had another newborn screening with the pediatrician this time and had to have her foot pricked again. Clara's poor feet are starting to look like a pin cushion. She did great though, considering, and mom didn't even cry! She was pretty easily comforted and calmed down quickly after they were done squeezing the blood out of her heal.
We love our sweet girl.
