We stopped to tour the Bluebell Factory on the way and got a free scoop of ice cream at the end of the tour. Bluebell is one of our favorite things about Texas!
One of our sightseeing adventures in Houston was visiting the San Jacinto Monument, built to commemorate Texas winning it's independence from Mexico. In true Texas style, this monument is taller than the Washington Monument. "Everything's Bigger in Texas!"
We also visited the Battleship Texas, and I have to say, I was majorly impressed. We spent a couple of hours there and could have stayed longer I'm sure. They let us play on and explore the ship which I thought was cool. Alex asked one of the volunteers a question, and he ended up taking us on part of their private tour to see how they loaded the largest turrets. It was pretty awesome.
Our last activity was going to the Houston Temple. I love the exterior architecture of this temple. It's so pretty.
Long weekends are the best! And in case you've been wondering, yes it does get cold in Texas. We got some of that arctic weather over our long weekend. Humidity is for real, guys.
